Four Sisters Townhouse

Every now and then we start to wonder if the capital has seen it all. But luckily with bars like Four Sisters Townhouse, a stone’s throw from St Paul’s Cathedral, there’s plenty to keep you feeling invigorated.

We arrive just before things really kick off. It’s mid-week and a little unexpected to see so many people enjoying the drinks. However, once we try our first, it’s easy to see why. This place won’t be a hidden gem for much longer.

Seated at the bar in full view of Emanuel Dulhaz, the Bar Manager at Four Sisters Townhouse, preparing his drink, we begin to peruse the menu. Though not before the team have all said hi. It’s a welcoming place.  We thought we might be the only strangers in a sea of regulars but that turns out not to be the case. Everyone gets the same welcome.

Emanuel gets us started with an impromptu tour of his homemade shrubs and flavour tinctures. Hidden just out of view from the bar is a vast catalogue of seasonal flavours…something he’s quite proud of. It’s certainly given an interesting slant to the cocktail menu. And if there’s one thing we’re always happy to see in people on the other side of the bar, it’s passion; which is evident in every single member of staff here.

“I started as barback here,” Emanuel says. And in less than two years he rose through the ranks to managing the bar. This is clearly someone with a strong penchant for drinks. He’s always wanted to learn and become more knowledgeable, saying, “I grew here like a flower.”  The bar menu is clearly his labour of love. We take in the surroundings one last time and finish our drink. We’ll definitely be back.
